History
SOIOS was established by Jan van Haaren in 2000. As an advisor to the tourism sector he found out that the lack of "tailor made transportation" of people frustrated the businesses in this sector. For instance, how do you take people from a parking lot to the beach?
On a visit in France he saw the answer: the prototype of a solar powered quad. Driving such an environmentally friendly four wheel vehicle was a real sensation. No noise, no smell, but lots of acceleration!
Together with the inventor of the solar powered quad Van Haaren decided to develop a solar powered road train and continue developing the quad. Those two vehicles are now known as the Lightrider and Solarolar respectively.
Getting familiar with specific design demands of solar powered vehicles, he extended the product line with the Solargolfer, which was built on the experience gained in developing the road train and quad.
In 2008 van Haaren added his latest vehicle to the growing product line, the Sunshuttle. The first Sunshuttle started driving in the historic city centre of Nijmegen, the Netherlands.
